Wir machen uns früh bereit, da Alan, unser Tricyclefahrer, bald da sein wird. Am Vortag haben wir versucht, uns über die Abfahrt der Fähre nach Abra de Ilog zu informieren, sind aber nicht wirklich schlau aus den verschiedenen Aussagen der Einheimischen geworden. Weil Neujahr ist, wisse man nicht genau, wie der Fahrplan aussehe. Daher begeben wir uns nun früh an den Pier, damit wir uns ein Ticket sichern können. Die traumhafte Überfahrt entlang der menschenleeren Sandstrände und den im Wind wehenden Palmen dauert nur gerade eine Stunde. Weiter geht es mit dem angenehm klimatisierten Bus nach Sablayan. Die Fahrt ist ein absolutes Highlight. Drei Stunden durch Felder, Wälder und Dörfer an einem herrlichen Sonnentag. Je näher wir jedoch Sablayan kommen, um so mehr Sturmschäden vom letzten Taifun werden sichtbar. Viele riesige Bäume liegen am Boden und die einfachen kleinen Hütten liegen verstreut auf einigen Metern herum. Erst später erfahren wir, dass diese Häuser nicht mehr aufgebaut werden, da sie nicht mehr gebraucht werden. Anscheinend sind die meisten der zerstörten Gebäude bereits wieder nach wenigen Tagen aufgebaut worden.
Die kurze Überfahrt auf die vorgelagerte Pandan Island dauert nur etwa 30 Minuten und schon stehen wir mitten auf einem strahlend weissen Sandstrand. Dahinter Palmen und eine gemütliche Strandbar sowie einige Bungalows, die sich in den grünen Büschen nur teilweise erkennen lassen. Sofort erfasst uns das Inselfeeling.
Unser kleines Bungalow befindet sich fast am Ende der Siedlung, so dass kaum jemand zu sehen oder hören ist. Die einladende Hängematte zwischen zwei Palmen liegt direkt vor unserem Zimmer, so dass wir diese die nächsten Tage fast ununterbrochen in Beschlag nehmen.
Wie alle an diesem Ort verlieben wir uns in die Ruhe und die Stimmung, die überall herrscht. Einige der Gäste sind zum 3,4 oder sogar 5 Mal hier und kehren jedes Jahr wieder zurück. Eine Familie erzählt uns sogar, dass sie die nächsten zwei Monate hier verbringen werden. All diese Gespräche drängen uns praktisch dazu unseren Aufenthalt zu verlängern. So werden umgehend aus den geplante drei Nächte deren sieben.
Fast um die ganze Insel befinden sich Korallenriffe in den verschiedensten Formen und Farben. Täglich schnorcheln wir alle Ecken ab und legen uns danach ausgerüstet mit einem Buch an die Sonne, bis es Zeit wird für die anderthalbstündigen Massagen.
Auch das Tauchen spielt im Inselrhytmus eine grosse Rolle. Die kleine Tauchbasis bietet täglich zwei Tauchgänge rund um die Insel an. Zudem stehen für weitere Ausflüge zwei grosse Boote zur Verfügung. Leider sind beide Schiffe während unserem Gesamte Aufenthalt Auf Touren Unterwegs, so dass uns der Tagestrip zum berühmten Apo Riff leider nicht möglich ist. Deshalb geniessen wir einfach das Inselleben.
Ausserdem können Kajaks gemietet werden, Billard und jegliche Brettspiele gespielt werden. Zudem ist an jedem Abend, nach dem reichhaltigen Buffet, die Bar mit Leuten aus aller Welt gefüllt. Spannende Gespräche und gemeinsame Reisepläne verbinden hier alle miteinander.
