Wir fliegen von Puerto Princesa nach Cebu um den Osten der Philippinen zu erkunden. Dort wollen wir anschliessend den Bus nach Moalboal nehmen – das wird ein Erlebnis! Im Terminal gibt es eine erste Wartehalle, wo viele Stühle in einem Halbkreis angeordnet sind. Alle Leute rutschen dann der Reihe nach immer Stuhl pro Stuhl weiter, bis man in die zweite Wartehalle kommt. Dort entscheidet sich jeder Passagier, ob er in einen Bus mit oder ohne Aircon einsteigt.
Nach 1:30h Wartezeit beschliessen wir, in den nächstbesten Bus zu setzen, der leider ohne Aircon ist. Die Sitze im Bus sind nach philippinischen Massstäben gebaut und sind ganze 35cm breit. Wir sitzen also auf eine Dreiersitzreihe, da wir auf dem Doppelsitz kaum Platz haben und freuen uns schon fast über die Sitz- und Beinfreiheit, als sich dann doch noch ein Mann auf das sage und schreibe 10-15cm freie Stück Sitzfläche reinquetscht. Toll:) Zum Glück dauert die Fahrt auch nur 3.5 Stunden… Es wird heiss, kuschelig und eng. Ein wahres Erlebnis auf den vielbefahrenen Strassen von Cebu! Es ist uns nun auch klar, warum viele Verkehrsteilnehmer Tücher um den Mund gebunden haben oder einen Mundschutz tragen. Die Abgase von den viele Tricyclen, Motorräder und Trucks sind doch sehr beissend in der Nase, wenn man mit offenen Fenstern fahren muss. Um 23 Uhr erreichen wir etwas erschöpft Moalboal. Zum Abschluss des Reisetages gönnen wir uns ein Bier in der nahegelegenen Taco Bar.
Am nächsten Tag wollen wir sogleich zum berühmten «Sardinen-Run». Vor der Küste Moalboals liegt nur ca. 10m vom Strand ein Abschnitt, wo sich Tausende von Sardinen aufhalten. Wir finden den Ort auf Anhieb und kommen aus dem Staunen kaum heraus. Wir sind umgeben von riesigen Sardinenschwärmen! Als dann plötzlich auch noch eine Meeresschildkröte durch einen Schwarm hindurch auftaucht, ist der Anblick perfekt.
Weiter links am Strand sollen sich häufig Schildkröten im Seegras aufhalten, die wir auch tatsächlich finden. Jedoch sind wir nicht mehr allein, sondern sind von schwimmwestentragenden asiatischen Tagestouristen umgeben und es wird etwas eng im Wasser. Trotzdem geniessen wir den Anblick der Meerestiere sehr.
Per Zufall treffen wir in Moalboal zwei Schweizerinnen, die wir zuvor auf Pandan Island kennengelernt haben. Spontan beschliessen wir zusammen mit Mirjam und Lea Abendessen zu gehen. Wir tauschen viele Reisetipps und Geschichten aus den vergangenen Wochen aus und lassen den Abend in der Chili Bar ausklingen.
Der nächste Tag beginnt früh, denn wir wollen im Kawasan River canyoning gehen! Wir sind etwas erstaunt, als uns um 7 Uhr der Fahrer nur mit einem Motorfahrrad abholen kommt. Sollen wir jetzt zu dritt da aufsteigen…? Ja! Hier ist es üblich, dass teilweise ganze Familien auf einem Roller sitzen. Viel besser als gedacht geht die Fahrt im nu vorbei. Wir werden mit Schwimmwesten, Schuhen und Helmen ausgerüstet, aber Benji behält seine Turnschuhe gleich an, weil die grössten Badeschuhe „nur“ in Grösse 45 verfügbar sind.
Es geht weiter in die Hügellandschaft hinein bis wir zu einer Anhöhe gelangen. Denn von dort geht es mit der Zipline weiter! In Superman-Stellung (also liegend) fliegen wir sogleich 1km über den Dschungel runter zum Fluss. Adrenalin pur!
Unten angelangt laufen wir ins Flussbett rein und beginnen das Canyoneering. Zu Beginn treffen wir eine kleine asiatische Gruppe, die wir aber schnell hinter uns lassen und ab da den Bach fast komplett für uns alleine haben. Bereits nach wenigen Metern kommt der erste 3m Jump in ein grosses Becken. Beim zweiten Stopp sagt uns der Guide, wir sollen uns rückwärts hinsetzen. Gesagt, getan flitzen wir rücklings eine natürlich Rutschbahn hinunter und plumpsen wieder in ein Becken.
Es macht extrem viel Spass, in die blauen Pools zu springen und darin zu schwimmen. Die Flusslandschaft im Dschungel ist sehr imponierend. Die Sonnenstrahlen, die durch den Regenwald ins Flussbett scheinen, lassen den Ort richtig mystisch erscheinen.
Nach ca. 2.5 Stunden erreichen wir das Ende beim beliebten Kawasan Wasserfall. Das Wasser ist hier wunderschön türkisblaugrün, so dass man sich fast nicht sattsehen kann.
Wir geniessen das erfrischende Wasser noch ein bisschen, bis wir zum Mittagessen weiter gehen. Dort kommen wir mit unserem jungen Guide vertiefter ins Gespräch. Mit 13 Jahren brach er die Schule ab und arbeitet seither als Canyoning Guide. Wir diskutieren kulturelle Unterschiede zwischen den Philippinen und der Schweiz und er erzählt uns von seinen Zukunftsplänen. Wir sind erstaunt, dass er seine Chancen auf Erfolg in den Philippinen sehr gering einschätzt, so dass einzig das Ausland erfolgversprechend scheint.
Wir lassen unseren sportlichen und actionreichen Tag am Strand beim Sonnenuntergang ausklingen.
